Scholarships

The five scholarships that I apply are; Macy’s scholarship, Davidson Fellows scholarships, and T-Mobile/UNCF Internship & Scholarship Program. What I need to apply for Macy’s scholarships is academic records, test scores, leadership and record of significant extracurricular activities, as well recommendations from applicants high school. For Davidson Fellows scholarships are: to be a full-time, sophomore or beyond;  currently enrolling in an accredited degree-granting institution; I need to have a minimum GPA of 3.0, also I need to demonstrate community service and involvement. For T-Mobile/UNCF Internship & Scholarship Program what I need is to be enrolling full-time at a four-year college or university. Be a Business, Accounting/Finance, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Telecommunications Engineering Computer Engineering, Human Resources or Management Information Systems major. I need to Have a minimum grade point average of 2.5 on a 4.0 scale, be a junior at the time of application.  That is what I need to apply for the scholarships.

Paying for College

             The colleges that I am considering to go are Bronx Community College and Hunter College. The cost of Bronx Community College for Matriculated Students (full time) $1650.00 per semester, for tuition are $1,680. The cost of Hunter college is for state tuition and fees (in home): $5,529, Room and board: $10,201, Books and supplies: $1,146, Estimated personal expenses: $4,526, Transportation expense: $918 Cost per credit hour (in state): $215. The preparations that I need to take are to find a job, start to save some money, complete all my credits, have a good record, and have good grades in the school. My plan to pay for colleges is to find a good job and to save money.

College Essay #1

Many times in my life, I have seen in the school how my classmates are. They have more things to do with other people, for example, they go out and talk with other students. When I see this, I think, why am I not like them? Am I different? May be I am special because, I am shy or I think different, and then I ask myself why I am this way? Thankfully, I have someone in my life that helps me thought this, my mother Leticia, she is my best friend.

One time my mother asked me what was happening to me. She also told me that I have to trust more in her, but I said that everything was okay. Then, I went to my room to be alone, and I had no words, only silence. One beautiful melody in my room that I heard was the symphony of what I was thinking. Then I fell as sleep, I started to dream that I am in a wonderful place, surrounded by nature and animals, I could see how the cherry trees started to grow and I could smell the sweet cherry with a taste of fruity delicious cherries. Finally many of my classmates appeared, I could see them, I could feel like I was just like them, I am with them , talking, having a good time, I am crying of contentment, then I woke up, that was only a dream. After that dream, I decided to talk with my mother.

Fast like a zebra my days passed, then finally I had the courage to talk with my mom about what was happening, I remember that night… it was a charming night, with little sparks in the sky, the moon was shining. My mother asked me, what was going on with me? I answered her by telling her that I am feeling separate from my classmates in the school, they have more things to do with each other, and they talk much more that is what was going on with me? There was one moment of silence, I could only hear the song of the wind, and then she told me; “don’t feel like that every person is different only that many people are shy like you, but is okay to feel that way.” When I heard the sound of her caring voice, I feel like, I have been set free, the looking at the sky, I saw how the stars and the moon were more radiant than ever and the song of the wind made me feel joyful.

In my dreams, I saw how everything is different from the reality, but if we want that dream to someday, will come true, we have the power to make our dreams reality.  I said that in my mind after that I fall asleep. I am in a beautiful lake, I sit on the grass, and I hear the sound of the water a magnificent sound combined with the echo of the wind both make one symphony; the symphony of my own heart. Then people around me sharing the melody of their own heart, one nation together finally, I find where I belong, I wake up, and after that dream, I think about the words of my mother. My mother changed my mind  with her words , my life changed and thanks to her I am different, and I give thanks to my mom to give me life, for help me and giving me advices. Thanks mom!

5 questions to Dowling College

My five questions that I have are:

1.      What are the best clubs that they have?

2.      Is the campus safe?

3.      What are the scholarships that they offer?

4.      What are the jobs that they had?

5.      How many classes do we have to take?

Advantages and Disadvantages of living at home or on a campus

For the two colleges of my choice : Hunter college and Fashion Institute of Technology there are advantages and disadvantages that make me think what are the differences between living at home or living on campus. For living at home, the advantage is to stay with family sharing new things. One of the disadvantages that I have if I choose to live in home is that I have little cousins and sometimes I like to take care of them, but if I have to do projects or study for an important test it can serve as a disadvantage. Another disadvantage is that I have to take public transportation and sometimes the trains are running late and I will be late to take the classes. For living on a campus, the advantage is that I will focus more in the classes and there will be no distractions of old friends. Additionally, I will be closer to the school and be on time in all the classes. The disadvantages are that I will not live with my family and friends, and missing important family events. My preference is to live on the campus because as I said I will be more focus in my studies and be on time.

The SUNY School that best fits me

According to the college survey, my career choice is Arts and business. The three colleges that I am interested in are Fashion Institute of Technology, SUNY Maritime College, and Stony Brook University. I am considering Fashion Instituted technology and Stony Brook University because both have the programs that I am most interested and the sports that I like.   Fashion Institute of Technology requires a GPA of 3.0 or higher. The second college that best fits me is the Stony Brook University because, in but the GPA that I need is 3.6, I also need the scores of the SAT; Math: 590 & 690, Critical Reading: 540&630 and reading: 530&630. I need the score of the ACT that is between 25 & 29. This may change my plans a little bit because I can see the difference between the SUNY schools and the CUNY schools.

SMART Goals!

By January of 2013, I will bring up my GPA by 20 points by doing the following:

First   I will attend to school every day on time because it is important the attendance in the school. I will take the classes that I need to take in order to graduate on time. In addition, I will participate in three more extracurricular activities afterschool. The most important thing to do is to have good grades in all the classes In order to do that I will study my notes one hour every day during the school year, participate more in all the classes if I can every day and pass all my regents with a 75 and above.

My College Search Requirements

I think that the best college that I am prepare for is Hunter College because I think the requirements are: four years of English, four years of social studies, three years of mathematics, two years of a foreign language, two years of laboratory sciences, and one year of performing or visual arts. The GPA for Hunter College is 88.3 and the SAT is 1198. This does not change my plans at all because I really want to go to Hunter College.

The CUNY School that best fits me

     According to the college survey, my career choice is Arts. The three colleges that I am interested in are City Tech, Hunter College, and CSI. I choose Hunter College because Hunter has the program that I am most interested in and because I visited the school during my sophomore year in high school. Hunter has what I am interested in, they have four schools and the one I prefer is the school of Arts and Science because that career is what I want to do have to do with art.                                                                                                         

                                                          

My Realistic Jobs

 

So many times I think what I want to be when I grow up......When I was little I told my parents that I want to be a veterinarian. My mother tells me that I should be an aviator. She tells me that they get an estimated salary around $100,000 a year. For many years, I have that thought in my mind but then I change of opinion and I chose to be Actor that was my dream to become a famous actor. An actor will earn approximately $50,000 a year. When I see the reality I know that the jobs I should take is what my personality reveal, those jobs are Artistic and Enterprising. I want to be Painter (artist) or Writer   because I love to be artistic in many ways like write papers with imagery or draw that comes to my mind. I think that I should take an Artistic job.
